Veranstaltungsbild

(Martin, US 2025 – FSK 16 – OmdU)

EN: The documentary follows journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin as she investigates a side of the climate crisis that is often overlooked: the environmental impact of the U.S. military. The documentary takes her across different locations and into conversations with veterans, scientists, activists, and communities affected by military activity. Along the way, it examines the connections between warfare, military bases, fossil fuels, pollution, and environmental destruction. Rather than focusing only on individual responsibility for climate change, the film looks at the much larger environmental footprint of military operations and asks why this impact receives so little attention. It combines investigative journalism, interviews, on-the-ground footage, and personal stories to build its argument. The result is a serious, provocative, and eye-opening documentary that challenges the way we usually talk about climate change. It is politically charged and sometimes confrontational, but its central message is presented with a strong sense of urgency. As part of the event, there will also be an interview with Abby Martin, offering an opportunity to hear directly from the filmmaker about the documentary and the issues it explores. (Martin, US 2025 – FSK 16 – OmdU)
